We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities, trips and activities to support pupil's wider development. Class trips typically take place termly, and are based on pupils' curriculum content. All information is sent out via Parent Mail.
Wraparound Provision: STEP Zone
As parents and carers we need to be sure that our children are safe, well looked after and enjoying themselves; to give us peace of mind whilst at work, studying or taking a break. The STEP Zone is an out of school service offering such a provision to parents and carers.
STEP Zone Out of School Service (OSS) is operated by the STEP Academy Trust and is based at David Livingstone Academy. It is registered with OFSTED under the individual Academy’s registration number: 137195. The aim of STEP Zone is to provide parents and carers with a reliable and consistent service in a happy, secure and stimulating environment for their children. The service is run by a team of qualified caring staff who are employed by the Trust. STEP Zone OSS includes a breakfast club and after school club at the David Livingstone Academy site. The clubs are accessible to children aged 4 – 11 years and runs from 7:45am to 18:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Trips and experiences
We provide children with a variety of trips and experiences across the school year. For every educational visit or visitor, we make sure that there is a clear link back to our curriculum, so that the visit consolidates or extends the children's learning. Our core trips are based around History, Geography, Science and RE.
For each year group, our trips are scheduled at least termly and supplement our curriculum offer. However, they are not exhaustive - additional enrichment opportunities are provided each year depending on school events, community development opportunities and pastoral needs. For example, in the 2024-5 academic year thus far, groups of children have attended Young Voices Choir at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, visited local MPs at the Houses of Commons, attended a pantomime, attended concerts at Croydon's Fairfield Halls and are thus far undefeated champions (for the second year in a row) at the STEP Academy Trust Debating Championships!
After-School Extra Curricular Activities
Clubs, classes and creative sessions provide fun ways for children to play, learn new skills and gain fresh experiences. At Benedict, we aim to provide a variety of clubs and activities for our children to access. If your child would like to sign up for a club, please contact the office.
Roles of Responsibility
To ensure that pupils are able develop their understanding of community engagement, and to support them in developing as young citizens, we have roles of responsibility in positions across the school. These include:
