Extra-Curricular, Trips & Activities

We believe extra-curricular activities play a very important role in the life of the pupil and the school. We therefore offer a variety of clubs for our students to join and enjoy both before and after school.  In addition, many of our children also learn a musical instrument.

At DLA we are able to offer a diverse range of extra-curricular activities. Clubs are important in order to extend our children’s learning, as well as developing new skills. We believe it is essential that there are opportunities to discover different interests and improve individual talents and all our children are encouraged to participate.

Clubs are accessible to all our pupils as they run before and after school.

Once our children have joined a club they are expected to attend regularly. If they wish to leave a club, then a written note from a parent/carer must be handed to the teacher in charge.  Some of the clubs only run at certain times of the year. Please see the teacher in charge for more details.

STEP ZONE

As parents and carers we need to be sure that our children are safe, well looked after and enjoying themselves; to give us peace of mind whilst at work, studying or taking a break. The STEP Zone is an out of school service offering such a provision to parents and carers.  STEP Zone Out of School Service (OSS) is operated by the STEP Academy Trust and is based at David Livingstone Academy. It is registered with OFSTED under the individual Academy’s registration number: 137195.

The aim of STEP Zone is to provide parents and carers with a reliable and consistent service in a happy, secure and stimulating environment for their children. The service is run by a team of qualified caring staff who are employed by the Trust. They work together to ensure that the expectations of parents and carers are exceeded. The children are introduced to a variety of educational and play-based activities, which are planned to stimulate and encourage development as well as to teach them to co-operate with each other at work and play.

STEP Zone OSS includes a breakfast club and after school club at the David Livingstone Academy site. The clubs are accessible to children aged 4 – 11 years.

Breakfast Club: operated during term time – Monday to Friday 7.45am – 8.55am.
