Pastoral Care

At David Livingstone Academy, we are committed to supporting the social and emotional development of pupils to promote their mental health and well-being of our pupils, their families and our staff.

We know that everyone experiences challenges in life and that can make us vulnerable and at times we may all need additional emotional support. We take mental health seriously and recognise the role that the academy plays in supporting those who require it.

Through our PSHE curriculum and classroom culture at David Livingstone Academy, we aim to:

  • help children to recognise and understand their emotions and feelings
  • ensure that children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
  • support children to form and maintain positive relationships with their peers
  • promote children's self-esteem and ensure they know that they count
  • encourage children to feel confident
  • help children to persist, even when faced with challenges
  • equip children with strategies to manage setbacks and build resilience
