Music

At David Livingstone, we are committed to providing a high-quality Music education that supports the holistic development of all our pupils. Our intent is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to engage with Music in a rich and meaningful way, fostering a lifelong appreciation and understanding of musical concepts, skills, and practices.

We aim to:

• Develop pupils’ musical skills, knowledge, and understanding through a broad and balanced curriculum that reflects the diversity of music from different cultures and traditions.
• Cultivate creativity, emotional expression, and critical thinking through active participation in music-making, performance, and listening activities.
• Encourage teamwork and social skills through collaborative musical activities, helping pupils to develop their confidence and self-esteem.
• Provide opportunities for all pupils to experience and excel in Music regardless of their background or prior experience, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

Music is an inclusive subject that, like all other curriculum areas, is enjoyed and accessed by all of our pupils. To ensure that this is possible we employ a range of strategies such as visuals cues and ear defenders to meet the physical and sensory needs of our pupils.
