Pupil Leadership Team

Pupil Leadership at David Livingstone Primary

At David Livingstone Primary, we believe every child has the power to lead, inspire, and make a difference. Our Pupil Leadership Team is made up of dedicated, passionate pupils who take on key roles across the school to help shape our community, promote pupil voice, and celebrate achievement.

Pupil Parliament

What is Pupil Parliament? Pupil Parliament is a dynamic leadership group where pupils use their voices to influence school decisions, campaign for change, and represent their peers. It’s a space for collaboration, creativity, and action.

What do members do?

  • Promote and campaign for pupil ideas and views

  • Champion children’s rights and inclusion

  • Fundraise for charities and lead community initiatives

  • Develop debating skills and host assemblies

  • Create and publish The Pupil Paper

  • Pupil Parliament

House Captains

Our House Captains are energetic role models who lead their house teams with pride and positivity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Announce weekly house point winners in assemblies

  • Organise and support house competitions and events

  • Assist the PE Coach and help set up equipment

  • Encourage participation and sportsmanship

  • Keep PE areas tidy and celebrate house achievements

  • Represent their house during school events and open days

Head & Deputy Head Academicians

These pupils lead our academic culture, promoting curiosity, resilience, and excellence in learning.

Head Academicians:

  • Lead assemblies celebrating learning and effort

  • Manage The School Paper and respond to pupil postbox entries

  • Organise quizzes, themed weeks, and learning challenges

  • Support teachers and pupils in creating focused learning environments

  • Represent the school at key events and gather pupil voice on learning

Deputy Head Academicians:

  • Support the Head Academician in all duties

  • Promote our PUPAC values and academic pride

  • Help run competitions and themed learning weeks

  • Encourage younger pupils and model excellent learning habits

Rights Respecting Lead

This role champions equality, kindness, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead assemblies and events focused on children’s rights

  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and respectful behaviour

  • Support staff in creating rights-respecting classrooms

  • Represent the school in Rights Respecting School Award activities

  • Help lead the Debate Champions group and gather pupil voice on rights-related issues
