At David Livingstone Academy, we believe that learning another language is a valuable asset in today’s global society. As well as providing the opportunity to develop practical communication skills, it also acts as a bridge to developing understanding and curiosity about other cultures.

We have designed a French curriculum that ensures that learners in Key Stage 2 develop key language skills, whilst developing self-confidence and having fun. There are twelve main topics, which are taught in depth, and are revisited each year. We ensure that all four areas of language learning (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are taught; pupils are provided with opportunities to express their thoughts and ideas, and understand and respond to its speakers - both verbally and in writing.
